This recruitment will be used to fill one career seasonal, full-time, **Parks Interpretive Specialist 2**position for the Central Whidbey Area. The duty station for this position is at Fort Casey State Park in Island County, WA.
**The dates for this seasonal position are from March 1st - October 31st yearly.**

Duties
Under the direction of Park's management, this position provides professional level interpretive services, serves as a senior level curator, and has responsibility for the operational management of the Admiralty Head Interpretive Center facility and interpretive services for the Central Whidbey Area. The Central Whidbey Area consists of: Fort Casey Historical State Park, South Whidbey State Park, Fort Ebey Historical State Park, Joseph Whidbey State Park, and Ebey's Landing State Park Heritage Site.
The purpose of this position is to research, develop, deliver and maintain relevant, guided and self-guided interpretive opportunities that connect all Washingtonians to their diverse natural and cultural heritage and provide memorable recreational and educational experiences.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Admiralty Head Interpretive Center facility and all interpretive services provided within the Central Whidbey Park Area.
* Develops and delivers formal interpretive program presentations that include a variety of venues and programming for park visitors, schools, and tour groups such as guided walks, talks, presentations, living history programs and Junior Ranger programs.
* Provides technical interpretive expertise for internal and external exhibits as well as interpretive media publications, brochures, panels, signage and other educational materials.
Qualifications
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
* Bachelor's degree involving major study in interpretation of Pacific Northwest History, American History, Anthropology, Geology, Forestry, Archaeology, Ecology, or a closely related field.
* Two (2) years of experience in natural history or historical interpretation gained through operation of an interpretive facility and/or curatorial experience. (A Master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience.)
* A valid unrestricted driver's license.
**Experience in historic preservation or in historic or natural science research or interpretation may be substituted year for year for education.**
