Job Description**


Laboratory has a 10 week master's internship available for an individual with understanding of the gut microbiome and its role in toxicology and exposure studies. We have an active research program in which we are focusing on obtaining a functional understanding of the native and toxin-exposed gut microbiome in xenometabolism from phylum to taxa to specific enzymes. Through a combination of chemical biology, microbiology, analytical chemistry, and other techniques we are revealing the functional dynamics of the microbiome at the molecular scale. We are hoping to identify an exceptionally motivated individual pursuing a master's degree who is involved in studies related to toxicology and/or the gut microbiome.


We have a highly collaborative and diverse research group, and this position will interface with advanced research in gut and soil microbiomes, chemical biology, proteomics, metabolomics, exposure toxicology, and systems biology. The position will primarily involve the application of chemical biology and activity-based protein profiling to the gut microbiome. The successful candidate will be expected to collaboratively develop research ideas and methods for applications relevant to our research programs focused on the gut microbiome. The successful candidate will also contribute to the preparation of reports, papers, posters, presentations, etc.

Candidates must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
